DESCRIPTION OF THE STAY
UN UNFORGETTABLE HUNTING STAY
In Scotland rough shooting is physical as practiced in weather challenging conditions and hilly territories. Hunters have to be prepared to walk on uneven grounds, steep slopes sometimes humid and during several hours.
Physical fitness of hunters should not be exaggerated to run in the Scottish Moors, but healthy walking capabilities are needed to hunt woodcocks.
This hunt is about wild birds and results are always depending on the weather conditions.
A professional guide will be with you during the whole stay and if you wish will be very happy to share with you his experienced dog pointers.
ONLY GROUSE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON

HUNTED SPECIES
The red grouse (Lagopus Lagopus Scoticus) is a wild bird that you only found in Scotland and northern England. It cannot be breeded and therefor bird management is essential to its survival.
Some territories charge up to 60 € per shot bird. Most estates practice only driven hunt and very rarely over pointers.
It takes its name from its red comb rather than from its plumage, which is brown rather than red. Both feet and legs are feathered.
They are territorial, actively and noisily marking out that territory with a display of jumping and calling. Their flight, too, is distinctive – a sudden, whirring take-off turning into a long glide.
HUNTING AREAS
The Hebrides are known as the “long islands” as they stretch for 100 miles. The Isle of Lewis is the most northerly island and has the capital, Stornoway on its eastern side.
Lewis’ coastline is severely indented into a number of large sea lochs creating fascinating scenery: chain of beaches, moorland and mountain.
Lewis supports thriving populations of grouse, red deer, and migratory populations of woodcock.
Grouses appreciate this island with it shores warmed by the Gulf Stream.
